Trip Lists - Introduction

This is the area for you if you like great long lists of birds! Yes, there is a total list of all the 313 species that we encountered during our trip.

However, to give an idea of which birds we saw in which areas, I've produced separate lists for the main areas that we visited:

• Tandayapa (including the Nono - Mindo road)
• Cotapaxi National Park (including the area around the Hotel La Cienaga, where we stayed)
• Pasochoa - a visit of just a few hours
• The Amazon basin - La Selva and the Rio Napo

The production of the lists was made easy through the use of the Bird Recorder 32 software, which meant considerably less typing.

However, the bird names may not be completely up to date, with recent 'lumping' and 'splitting' - and, indeed, some re-classification of birds into different families in some cases. I certainly found a few differences when I was using Bird Recorder 32 to produce lists before we went.

Despite these variations, you may find the lists of some interest if you are planning a birding trip to Ecuador.
